This article details the origins of fascism, which arose in Europe at about the time of the World Wars, and its five stages. Fascism begins with would-be leaders capitalizing on public dissatisfaction with current leaders and pointing at instances of disillusionment, such as when Germany and Italy both suffered economic hardship after the Great War.
