Fanny Hensel was born in Hamburg on 14 November 1805, the daughter of Lea, née Salomon (1777-1842), and Abraham Mendelssohn (1776-1835). She was the elder sister of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847). 30. Juni 2023 · Legacy and posthumous recognition. Tragically, Fanny Mendelssohn’s life was cut short when she passed away on 14 May 1847, at the age of 41. Her untimely death occurred in Berlin, Germany, where she had been residing with her family. The circumstances surrounding Fanny’s passing are believed to be related to a stroke.
