Over 800 people visited Whitney M. Young's Academic Center during last year's Academic Center Open House. Whitney Young's outstanding 130-member faculty represents a broad spectrum of advanced degrees and years of experience. "Our teachers understand and provide for the needs of our gifted and talented students and challenge themselves through continuing academic training and the pursuit of additional degrees in the subject areas," says Whitney Young principal, Dr. Joyce Kenner.
Teachers also set their own tutoring sessions for before and/or after school. Academic Center students are also encouraged to utilize the Writing Center, open during the lunch periods and after school. Staffed by a full-time English teacher and published author, students can get help at any stage of the writing process from planning to drafting to editing.
