Born in 1947, by the early 1960s, a teenage Molland was performing in bands around his hometown of Liverpool. Playing with the Assassins and the Profiles led to Joey joining a group called the Masterminds in 1965. Members of the Rolling Stones and their manager/producer, Andrew Loog Oldham, heard the group play at a club.

Aug. 2020 · Joey was, of course, signed to the Apple label with Badfinger, and also played on the “All Things Must Pass” and “Imagine” albums, so his Beatles connections couldn’t be any more authentic! There’s a subtle nod to Badfinger’s ‘No Matter What’ with the “ooh girl” refrain in ‘All I Want To Do’, while the epic tour de force of the title track is the perfect album closer.

Watching at home in Minnesota that night was Liverpool-born guitarist Joey Molland, the sole surviving member of the band’s classic line-up. “I only found out that day that they were going to use the song on Breaking Bad ,” he says.
