James Tolkan. James Stewart Tolkan (born June 20, 1931) is an American actor. He is often cast as a strict, overbearing, bald-headed authority figure. He is known for his role as Mr. Strickland in all three of Back to the Future movie series; Back to the Future, Back to the Future Part II, and in Back to the Future Part III .
