Elisha Vanslyck Cook Jr. (December 26, 1903 – May 18, 1995) was an American character actor famed for his work in film noir. According to Bill Georgaris of They Shoot Pictures, Don't They, [citation needed] Cook appeared in a total of 21 films noir, more than any other actor or actress.
At age 91, he was the last surviving member of the "Falcon" cast. One of the most familiar character actors of the mid-twentieth century, small-statured Elisha Cook Jr. would be a Hollywood immortal if only for his roles in The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Shane (1953).
