Generally, Peter Ellstrom Deuel’s life mirrored the tenor of his times. Born February 24, 1940, in Rochester in upstate New York and raised in nearby Penfield, he eventually became a troublesome high school student just as the moody teen rebel appeared in movies. “I thrived on trouble,” he once said.

I designed the Pete Duel Memorial Site (PDMS) in 2004 to celebrate the life and talent of this remarkable man. PDMS contains more than 500 pictures of Pete Duel (many of them from original sources), and roughly 5,000 video captures, along with more than 100 video clips and performances—and with more to be uploaded and presented.

Deuel and Lillian M. Ellstrom.
Facts. Duel was born in Rochester, New York, the eldest of three children born to Dr. Ellsworth and Lillian Deuel (née Ellstrom). His brother Geoffrey Deuel was also an actor, best known for his role in Chisum (1970) and numerous episodic television appearances of the 1960s and 1970s; their sister's name was Pamela.
