6. Feb. 2024 · But The Last Man on Earth is now and always will be the 1964 classic starring Vincent Price. It was the first psychotronic film I ever saw — at the age of 5. And I had nightmares about it for years. Any film that gives children nightmares for years can’t be all bad and is probably really good. The Last Man on Earth is great.

This film also features The Pit where the bodies of plague victims are disposed of, that the other two I Am Legend film variations do not have. So, despite Matheson's dislike of the film, the film is influential and still remains the most closest version to the book. If you like classic horror/sf movies, Last Man on Earth is a must have.
