Geoffrey Downes (born 25 August 1952) is an English keyboardist who gained fame as a member of the new wave group the Buggles with Trevor Horn, the progressive rock band Yes, and the supergroup Asia. Born in Stockport , Downes moved to London to pursue a music career.
Geoff Downes is beyond doubt one of the foremost keyboard players of rock. His textures have always pushed boundaries, with signature synth sounds. Geoff’s Hammond playing is also world renowned. His award winning songwriting crosses genres, from pure pop to classical prog. His love of music is as fervent now as it was in his teens.
Musician, songwriter, singer and “top bloke” (as Geoff Downes describes him), John Wetton lived a truly extraordinary life. In this book some seventy-plus people who knew and worked with John, from Family, King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, Roxy Music, U.K., Asia, the John Wetton solo band and beyond, pay tribute to that fact.
