Columbus Delano (June 4, 1809 – October 23, 1896) was an American lawyer, rancher, banker, statesman, and a member of the prominent Delano family. Forced to live on his own at an early age, Delano struggled to become a self-made man. Delano was elected U.S. Congressman from Ohio, serving two full terms and one partial one. Prior to the
Columbus Delano (1870–1875) Columbus Delano was born in 1809 in Shoreham, Vermont. He studied the law, established a law practice, and then served as the prosecuting attorney for Knox County, Ohio. Delano was elected to the United States House of Representatives as a Whig in 1844 and served two years, declining to run for a second term.
4. Dez. 2022 · Columbus Delano was the poster child for American genocide as President Ulysses S. Grant’s Interior Secretary from 1871 to 1875. Prior to that, he was an anti-slavery Congressman. At the Interior, he helped pioneer what later became the National Park System by setting aside Yellowstone.
