Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) stand at the forefront of many recent developments in deep learning. Yet a major difficulty with these models is their tendency to overfit, with dropout shown to fail when applied to recurrent layers.

The project will look at the UK’s compute needs, develop cost-effective solutions to ensure researchers and industry have what they need to lead the way, and inform a long-term plan for the UK.
Zoubin Ghahramani FRS is a British-Iranian researcher at Cambridge University and Professor of Information Engineering. He is jointly appointed to University College London as well as to the Alan Turing Institute. And since 2009, he has been a fellow of St John’s College, Cambridge.
