Franklin Carmichael Carmichael worked as an illustrator, which may go some way to explaining the geometric layers, the immediacy of visual communication, in his paintings. He worked mainly in watercolors, but also painted his beloved Ontario landscape in luscious oils, such as this autumnal view.
