Am 1. Februar 1989 starb Elaine de Kooning, und Willems Tochter Lisa und ihr Lebensgefährte, der Anwalt John L. Eastman, übernahmen die geschäftlichen Abwicklungen für den fortschreitend hinfällig werdenden Vater. Eastman, der Bruder von Linda McCartney, sollte später Vizepräsident der Willem de Kooning-Foundation werden.
Elaine de Kooning (anglès: Elaine Marie de Kooning) ( Brooklyn, 12 de març de 1918 - Southampton, 1 de febrer de 1989) fou una pintora estatunidenca, exponent fonamental de l’ expressionisme abstracte americà. També es dedicà a la crítica d'art i a l'ensenyament.
