THE SCHOOL DAY Starting the day. Morning drop-off is from 08:30 at the gate to the Walled Garden, for children in Key Stage One (Years 1 and 2). Children in Reception go to their classrooms from 08:30 where they are met by the teaching staff, who will welcome them into school.
Berkhamsted School is a family of six independent schools offering day and boarding places for boys and girls aged 5 months to 18 located in Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire. The school was founded in 1541 and aims to foster a spirit of adventure in pupils, offering a high quality education and care for boys and girls.

As a boarder at Berkhamsted, you will experience life at a traditional English independent school as a member of a small, diverse boarding community of around 80 or so students. Our boarding community is a mixture of full boarders (termly), weekly boarders from Year 9 (Sunday – Thursday nights) and local pupils who flexi-board from Year 7, on one or two nights a week due to school commitments.

The school also has a full-time residential Chaplain and an Assistant Chaplain. There is a Medical Centre at Berkhamsted Girls with fully qualified nurses providing cover during the school day. The wellbeing of our pupils at Berkhamsted is a core part of many programmes of study and ways of working including curriculum PSHE, Chapel services and AS Tracking.
