Sidney Bechet (14/05/1897, New Orleans - 14/05/1959, Garches, France) était un clarinettiste, saxophoniste et compositeur de jazz américain. Sa sonorité chaude et son swing infaillible font de lui le représentant par excellence du jazz Nouvelle-Orléans (voire "le symbole du jazz", dixit Duke Ellington).

Arguably one of the two top horn players to emerge from New Orleans during the first half of the 20th century (along with Louis Armstrong), Bechet always had a powerful and personal tone, whether playing soprano or clarinet.
