1. Sept. 2023 · Als kleinen Bonus gab es mit Gladys Knights Licence to Kill den besten Bond-Song seit vielen Jahren. In den USA ging dieser zwar ziemlich unter, zumindest in Europa war das theatralisch Titellied jedoch ein großer und verdienter Hit, der einen an die eleganten Lieder der Anfangstage erinnert und damit besser gealtert ist als so manch anderes Bond-Lied aus den 80ern.
Danach nimmt er böse Rache: Er tötet die Ehefrau und verletzt Leiter (David Hedison) schwer. Bond, der eigentlich einen anderen Auftrag hat, will nun seinerseits den Drogenboß zur Strecke bringen. Als ihn "M" zurückpfeifen möchte, quittiert 007 kurzerhand seinen Dienst und arbeitet ohne seine Lizenz zum Töten auf eigene Faust weiter.
The soundtrack to Licence to Kill, the 16th Eon Productions James Bond film, was released by MCA Records in 1989. Because the usual James Bond composer John Barry was not available at the time as he was undergoing throat surgery after suffering a rupture of the esophagus in 1988, the soundtrack's more upbeat and suspenseful score was composed and conducted by Michael Kamen.
