Anschließend arbeitete Mikey Dread als Produzent und Sänger, u. a. mit King Tubby , Carlton Patterson und der englischen Punkband The Clash , mit der er auf Welttournee ging und was viel Einfluss auf das Album Sandinista! hatte.
