As a public campus, you are free to come and visit the Schoenberg Music Building yourself, or attend any of our over 300 musical and scholarly events. The School of Music hosts weekly tours throughout the academic year, beginning in late September and running through June. Tours of the UCLA campus as a whole are available all year.
Travis J. Cross (he/him) serves as professor of music and director of bands at UCLA, where he conducts the Wind Ensemble and leads the graduate wind conducting program. He chaired the music department from 2018–23 and was associate dean for academic mentoring and opportunity during the initial years of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

Eileen Strempel, opera singer and professor of voice in the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, has been named inaugural dean of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, effective July 8. “The Herb Alpert School of Music weaves together UCLA’s celebrated scholarly brilliance and performance excellence.
