Valarie Allman of the United States' opening throw of 68.98m was enough for her to hold onto Olympic gold in the women's discus at the Olympic Stadium. The 26-year-old had come into Tokyo 2020 among the favourites after a season's best of 70.01m at the U.S Trials.
