Fonda was born on May 16, 1905 in Grand Island, Nebraska. [1] He studied at the University of Minnesota . He was married to Margaret Sullavan from 1931 until they divorced in 1932. Then he was married to Frances Ford Seymour from 1936 until her death in 1950. Then he was married to Susan Blanchard from 1950 until they divorced in 1956.

Dez. 2023 · Afdera Franchetti was the daughter of Baron Raimondo Franchetti, a famous explorer who traveled extensively in Ethiopia and charted hitherto unexplored territories (Dancalia) during the 1920s. On his return from an expedition to Ethiopia, his plane exploded over Cairo in 1935. Raimondo's grandmother was Sara Louise de Rothschild (1834–1924).

Franchetti also called the island in the middle of the lake Afdera–the lowest proven island in the world–after himself for being the first known person setting foot on it. Franchetti extensively explored the lake, and his name was assigned to one of the two endemic fishes of the lake Afdera: Danakilia franchettii ( Vinciguerra, 1931 ; Getahun, 2001 ).
