Edward Bibbens Aveling (né le 29 novembre 1849 [N 1] à Stoke Newington et décédé le 2 août 1898 à Londres) est un biologiste, évolutionniste, athée et socialiste britannique. Fils d'un pasteur congrégationaliste , il devint un fervent darwinien au cours de ses études de sciences.
After that, Eleanor and Edward Aveling, overseen by Friedrich Engels, prepared the first English language edition of Das Kapital volume I, published in 1887. On Engels' death in 1895, she and Aveling sorted and stored her father's extensive papers. Marx identified strongly with her Jewish heritage.

Edward Bibbins Aveling (* 29. November 1849 in Stoke Newington, Stadtbezirk von Hackney, London; † 2. August 1898 in Battersea, London) war ein englischer Sozialist, Zoologe, Freidenker sowie in den Jahren von 1884 bis 1898, bis zu ihrem Tod, Lebensgefährte von Eleanor Marx. Edward B. Aveling verwendete als Pseudonym den Namen Alec Nelson.
Edward Aveling, the son of a Congregational minister, was born in Stoke Newington, London, on 29th November, 1849. Aveling was educated at Harrow School and the Faculty of Medicine at University College, London. An excellent student and after he graduated he was appointed as a Lecturer in Comparative Anatomy at London Hospital.
