The liner notes to the CD "The Most Of Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks" described The Charlatans as a group of "psychedelic Edwardian desperadoes".

_Original Recordings_ isn't easy to find. The original seems to be out of print. Sony reshuffled the song sequence and converted it into _The Most of Dan Hicks_, omtting two songs "It's Bad Grammar, Baby," and "Shorty Falls in Love" in favor of a handful of top quality, previously unissued "bonus tracks."
