City-As-School ( CAS) is a public high school located at 16 Clarkson Street between Hudson Street and Seventh Avenue South in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City which was established in 1972. It is one of the oldest alternative public high schools in the United States.
Founded as an independent alternative high school in 1972, City-As-School’s primary objective is to offer students a multitude of Learning Experiences that encompass the depth and breadth of New York City’s businesses or resources.
One Student At A Time. As one of the largest, oldest, and most well-known transfer schools in the city, City-As-School has a large number of applicants each year.
We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills. Our students can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school.
