Mainhorse seemed to play like there's no tomorrow, with tons of amazing organ work from Moraz himself. Peter Lockett might not have been the greatest vocalist out there, but at least he isn't Lee Jackson (who happened to play with Moraz in the Nice-spinoff Refugee along with Brian Davison). I get reminded a tad of The Nice, especially when classical influences in the keyboard playing show up ...
Mainhorse came together in 1970 and lasted only a short time, but during their existence they recorded a fine album in London in 1971. Featuring such highlights as the extended piece ‘God’, ‘Pale Sky’ and ‘Passing Years’, the album was critically acclaimed but failed to sell in significant quantities and is now highly sought after among collectors.
Mit Mainhorse und erste Filmmusiken (1969–1973) Nach einer Reise in die USA formierte er im Jahr 1969 in der Schweiz seine eigene Gruppe Mainhorse mit Jean Ristori ( E-Bass ) und den beiden Engländern Bryson Graham ( Schlagzeug ) und Peter Cockett ( Gitarre ), mit denen er nach England ging, um sich dort zu etablieren. 1971 wurde ein Album bei Polydor herausgegeben: Mainhorse .
Mainhorse's record is fantastic! It's a great addition to any prog music collection.As it seems, this great record was recorded in 1971, and its production isn't really good. However, they play and sing some fine progressive rock like Yes and Gentle Giant. Patrick Moraz does a fine job in this one.
