Der Eintritt beträgt 3Pfund und es nicht touristisch überlaufen. Die große Halle sowie die schönen Gärten sind hervorzugehen. Das Balliol College aus dem 1200 Jahrhundert ist eines der traditionellen College in Oxford mit ca. 450 Studenten die auch im College wohnen und essen. Leider muss man für den Eintritt bezahlen.
Balliol College welcomes visitors who wish to tour our buildings and gardens. We are open as often as we can be, but from time to time there are College events that require the College to be closed. As part of admission, you will be able to visit the gardens, Chapel and Hall. We are open from 10. 00 am until 5. 00 pm (or dusk, whichever is sooner).

Balliol has existed as a community of scholars on its present Broad Street site without interruption since about 1263. By this token it claims to be the oldest college in Oxford, and in the English-speaking world. In 1260 a dispute between John de Balliol and the Bishop of Durham erupted into violence and Henry III condemned Balliol’s behaviour.
Balliol was in 1973 the first of the traditional all-male colleges to elect a woman as a Fellow and Tutor, and the College has admitted women as students since 1979: one of them, Masako Owada (Balliol 1988 – 90, resident in Holywell Manor 1988 – 9 ), was married to HIH The Crown Prince of Japan in June 1993.
