The Long Ryders founded alt-country with their 1984 album, Native Sons, and helped codify and popularise Americana throughout their career. Crossing Byrds/Buffalo Springfield electric guitars and harmonies with a Sex Pistols/Ramones rhythm section was their idea and their legacy. Their signature songs Looking For Lewis And Clark and I Had A Dream have never left the airwaves.
