23. Jan. 2024 · Mud was formed in 1966 by four friends from Carshalton, Greater London: Les Gray, Rob Davis, Dave Mount, and Ray Stiles. They played in various bands together before settling on the name Mud in 1968. They initially performed as a rock and roll revival band, covering songs by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and others.

Davis received his first guitar aged 11, and music became a central part of his life. In 1962, at 15, he and Dave Mount formed a band called The Apaches, with a Shadows sound. He and Mount continued to work together in several bands, including the Barracudas, and in 1964 formed the Remainder.

David Mount Obituary. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Mount on April 20, 2023 at the age 80 while at his home in Marco Island, FL. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, wintered in the 4000 Riviera building, in Hideaway, Marco Island, Florida since 1997 and summered on Diamond Lake in Cassopolis, MI.
