  1. The Duke Ellington School of the Arts (established 1974) is a high school located at 35th Street and R Street, Northwest, Washington, D.C., and dedicated to arts education. One of the high schools of the District of Columbia Public School system , it is named for the American jazz bandleader and composer Duke Ellington , a native of Washington, D.C.

  2. Welcome to the Dance Department at Duke Ellington School of the Arts. The purpose of the Dance Department School of the Arts is to train selected students in the historical, technical, and artistic elements of classical ballet and modern dance and other related dance courses such as Ethnic Dance, Dance Orientation, Dance History, Dance Improvisation, Dance Composition and Senior Project.

  3. His are the qualities we have worked to instill in graduates since the Duke Ellington School of the Arts was founded nearly forty years ago. We do so by guiding 9th to 12th grade students through a full academic course of study and an arts major: Dance, Literary Media and Communications, Museum Studies, Instrumental or Vocal Music, Theatre, Technical Design and Production, or Visual Arts.
