Howard Hugh Laravea / Three Dog Night. A t an early age Howard showed interest in music. His mother, SuElla, was youth director at church. Being there with her allowed him time to slip away to the old Chapel and play the piano and Hammond C2 organ. At 10 years, a Silvertone electric guitar began the journey.
Laravea was no stranger to the road before Gretchen came along. After hopping from coast to coast with his own band, CBS recording artists El Roacho, he played with bassist Rick Danko of The Band, then served two years with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons before commencing a 12-year stint as musical director for '60s hitmakers Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.
