The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1996. It is located at 415 7th Street. The house was constructed in 1860.
Biography. Lamar, Joseph Rucker , 1857-1916, American jurist, b. Elbert co., Ga. He was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1878, served (1886-89) in the state legislature, and compiled The Code of the State of Georgia (1896). He served (1904-06) on the state supreme court and was Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1911-16).
