The film was subsequently released uncut on Blu-ray by Vinegar Syndrome; read more about that release here. The Code Red presentation of The Severed Arm comes as a double feature with So Sad about Gloria, which was widely released on VHS under the title of Visions of E vil but receives its first DVD release here under its original title.
The final film in my mini Code Red marathon. So Sad About Gloria is like a 40s suspense novel you find in the back of a rented cabin one summer's night. It's a swift breeze, simple and predictable. Peculiarly I am totally fine with this being slow as molasses.
Still, Gloria meets and marries writer Chris Kenner, played by Robert Ginnaven, who appeared in all four of Thomason’s regional films. They move into their new home: the location where a young woman was murdered (seen earlier in the film, in a scene that is quite bloody for a PG rating) and whose death remains unsolved.
