Rocket Gibraltar is a tonal nightmare. What starts as a dysfunctional family hang-out film ends with a group of kids, one of whom is a psychic McCauley Culkin, disposing of their grandfather's body. There's a lot that doesn't work here, not least of all that all the women characters are woefully undeveloped but it is the creepiness of the ending presented as uplifting that sticks out the most.
The Rockwell clan is a close-knit family who share a warm relationship with Levi. But what begins as a joyful day marking a milestone in a man's life turns into a surprisingly ironic and moving event as the grandchildren honor Levi's most cherished wish.
