Synopsis. In April of 1974, Dr. Ross Colburn and his wife Irene are due to return home from a trip to Hong Kong. Their youngest son, Terry, prepares for their arrival by tidying up the house. Terry is sixteen and takes flying lessons. Soon he will make his solo flight.
Due to truly horrific circumstances, he is forced to change from being a somewhat removed and detached father, to becoming the emotional rock of strength and love for his entire family. He has some very moving scenes with the actors and actress portraying his children, particularly a very important scene near the end of the film, at the graveside of his wife.
