Bacon, Augustus Octavius (1839-1914) – Born in Liberty County the son of Octavius and Mary Louise Jones Bacon. Graduated from the University of Georgia law school in 1860. He was adjutant of the Ninth Georgia Regiment, Confederate Army, during the Civil War. He married Virginia Lamar and made his home in Macon, Georgia, after the war.
