Eddie was born in Detroit, MI on October 30, 1939. In 1958, he met Berry Gordy, founder of Motwon Records and Eddie subsequently dropped out of college to work for him. Holland had one of Motown's first hits "Jamie" in 1962. By the next year, Eddie had teamed up with his younger brother Brian and Lamont Dozier.
