Tbh not safe. Homelessness has gotten worse and many can you be on drugs and violent, especially around the pier / promenade / beach and venice at night. Santa Monica also has limited street lights at night, many roads and streets are very dark. Also not worth it at night u wont see anything

Hi there. It is a different experience during the day to the night. In the daytime you can swim on the beach and have lunch on the pier. It can get crowded during the day. If you are into photography you can take some great shots during the day filled with colour. In the evening it is quieter normally and nice for a wander and dinner.
