JANE GOODALL gehört zu den drei Frauen, die die Erforschung unserer nächsten Verwandten geprägt und vorangetrieben haben. DIAN FOSSEY (1932-1985) beobachtete Berggorillas, BIRUTÉ GALDIKAS (geb. 1946) die Orang-Utans und JANE GOODALL die Schimpansen. Alle wurden durch den bekannten Paläontologen und Anthropologen LOUIS LEAKEY (1903-1972) in die Feldforschung eingeführt und betreut.
