Friedrich Ebert führte zahlreiche Prozesse wegen Beleidigung und Verleumdung. 1923/24 kam bei einem Prozess in Magdeburg so auch der Ebert-Groener-Pakt ans Licht. Wegen diese Prozesses hatte Ebert eine Blinddarmentzündung verschleppt, die sich nun zur Bauchfellentzündung ausweitete.
