There's a pristine quality to the nature of the stories in both collections: an examination of sorts, an attempt to uncover, lay bare, something that's hidden beneath the hubris of an emotion. Overall, both collections are a masterclass in minimalism.

I hadn’t planned on reading it right away — and in fact I was still reading Jhumpa Lahiri’s Interpreter of Maladies then — but something about the gorgeous weekend ahead told me to put down Maladies and pick up this summer read.
