Recently my philodendron put out these green things on top of the soil. Are these roots? I don’t know very much about plants, just keep a few to put in vivariums for my pets. It also recently had a leaf turn brown and die but I am not sure if that’s related. If anyone knows what these are and if it’s a bad sign please let me know.
Removing the roots will kill the tree. Changing the grade around the roots is likely to kill the tree. If you want to plant wildflower seeds, I would recommend carefully scarifying the soil without damaging the roots and plant a hearty quick rooting flower.
