After rewatching all five Monsterverse movies in a row, I've noticed a shift that has increasingly leaned towards a more childish and cartoonish style, which, in my opinion, detracts from the series' initial allure. To me, the peak of the Monsterverse was "Kong: Skull Island", with "Godzilla" (2014) as a close second.
