In the 60s his style went out of fashion with trumpeters in general. The younger generation preferred Miles's style, and if they imitated a bop player it would be Clifford Brown. There were exceptions, like Jon Faddis, but you didn't hear a lot of young trumpeters imitating Dizzy later on.
