It is the only historically black college in the state and the westernmost HBCU in the United States. The main campus in Langston is a rural setting 10 miles (16 km) east of Guthrie.
Founded in 1897, Langston University is a public-land grant institution and a proud Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Students pursue their undergraduate and graduate education at three campuses.
Langston University, formerly known as Colored Agricultural and Normal University, was founded as a land grant college on March 12, 1897.
Across our three campuses, we offer 40 degree programs through six schools of study. Our programs offer students a learning experience that is culturally enriched and set against the competitive job market of the 21st century.
