Vor 5 Tagen · モンク名義のラストアルバム。 1971年11月15日のロンドン。 テイクを重ねながらも、1日で全29曲を録音したモンク。 正直に言って、全盛期のモンクのポテンシャルは失ってしまったが、「いま、自分がやれるプレイを残すんだ」という強い意思が伝わってくる。 かつて、この日の録音は3枚のLPに分散されていた。 そのいずれもが廃盤状態。 モンク生誕100年を記念して、コンプリート盤CDが2018年初頭にリリース。 Disc 1はソロ。 Disc 2はラスト曲Trinkle Tinkleのソロを除いて、アル・マッキボン、アート・ブレイキーを従えたトリオ。 ジャズのアルバムを聴いて、涙ぐむなんてことはないのだが、このアルバムには心を揺さぶられてしまう。
