  6. 29. Mai 2024 · The first act to play the Blue Note was Joseph “MuggsySpanier. The Chicago-based cornetist led a Dixieland band called the Bucktown Five that was active in the 1920s. Spanier took his nickname from Hall of Fame baseball manager John “Muggsy” McGraw, who also was a vaudeville performer. Muggsy and the Bucktown Five opened the second Blue Room as well.
