The second Blue Note opened in 1954 around the corner to an upstairs spot at 3 North Clark, a storefront north of the Bamboo Inn Restaurant where artists like Ellington and Billy Strayhorn would adjourn after a gig. The Blue Note Chicago closed for good in 1960.
