Bandy ist eine Ball- und Mannschaftssportart, die auf Eis ausgetragen wird. Bandy ist der Vorläufer des heutigen Eishockey und wird heute vor allem in Nord- und Osteuropa sowie in Nordamerika betrieben. Erfolgreichste Nationalmannschaft ist die Männermannschaft von Russland.
Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal.
Geschichte. Der Deutsche Bandy-Bund wurde im Juni 2013 in die Federation of International Bandy aufgenommen. Das erste Spiel nach der Neugründung fand am 28. September 2013 bei einem Freundschaftsturnier im Rinkbandy in Nijmegen statt. Die meisten Spieler sind russischstämmig.
Herren-Weltmeisterschaften im Bandy werden seit 1957 vom Weltverband FIB ausgetragen. Nachdem die zweite Weltmeisterschaft in Bandy vier Jahre nach der ersten stattfand, wurde ab 1961 die Weltmeisterschaft alle zwei Jahre ausgespielt. Seit 2003 findet jedes Jahr eine Weltmeisterschaft statt.
