Kung Fu is an American action-adventure martial arts Western drama television series starring David Carradine. The series follows the adventures of Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin monk who travels through the American Old West, armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks Danny Caine, his half-brother.

During Kung Fu's original run, Carradine made cameo appearances in Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973) (alongside his brother Robert Carradine) and Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye. He also directed several episodes of Kung Fu, a short musical called A Country Mile (1973), and a film, You and Me (also known as Around).

Der Halbchinese Kwai Chang Caine (David Carradine) zieht durch den Westen der USA, auf der Flucht vor dem Kaiser von China, der ihn wegen Mordes sucht. Er ist eigentlich gegen Gewalt, hat aber bei den Shaolin-Mönchen in China deren Kampfkunst gelernt und setzt sie notfalls ein.
Carradines bekannteste Rolle war die des Kwai Chang Caine in der 1970er-Jahre-Fernsehserie Kung Fu. In der Nachfolgeserie Kung Fu: Im Zeichen des Drachen aus den 1990ern spielte Carradine die Rolle von Kwai Chang Caines gleichnamigem Enkel, der seinem Sohn Peter nach langer Trennung wieder begegnet.
David Carradine considered himself an evangelist of Shaolin Kung Fu. The abbot of the temple fictionalized in the show said Carradine had made great strides toward bringing awareness about Shaolin ways of peace.
David Carradine stars as Kwai Chang Caine, schooled in the spirit-mind-body ways of the Shaolin priesthood by the blind, avuncular Master Po and the stern yet loving Master Kan. Caine speaks softly, but hits hard. He lives humbly, yet knows great contentment.
