  1. Vor 5 Tagen · “A Night in Tunisia” is a quintessential composition by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. Its origins remain somewhat of a mystery. However, many sources have claimed to have located its genesis in Gillespies time as a member of Benny Carter’s band in 1942.

  2. Having read up on Lee Morgan recently, this session made me a believer that Lee was mentored by Dizzy. I don't have a lot of Dizzy records, actually; but this 1957 session had me saying "OK, I can see where some of Lee's influences were." (Clifford Brown another major influence, of course.)
