Vor 6 Tagen · The Return of Godzilla doesn't restart the series. It ignores everything after the original Gojira, but it is written as a direct sequel to that movie,not a reboot. That's why the American version retitled Godzilla 1985 featured added scenes with Raymond Burr, reprising his role as Steve Martin from the American release of the original Godzilla.

It is essentially the American version of the original, but unique enough to stand on its own.
